Object-Oriented: derivation
Webster's 7th says that
-
OBJECT is derived from the Latin neuter of "obicere", meaning
to throw in the way, to hinder.
-
ORIENT is derived from the Latin "oriri", to rise,
thus [archaic] LUSTROUS, SPARKLING
Thus, OBJECT-ORIENTED must mean "A glitzy thing that hinders and gets
in the way".
