Aloha Kaho'olawe

Scarred by purposeful fire
reclaimed in the face of much ire
in the voices of people, peaceful
in the chorus of islands, blissful

Small groups of people replanting
digging, slowing erosion, watering
enjoying a swim on the beach with no ship
filling with mana and with friendship

An unknown future filled with hope, in my mind
canoes on the wide ocean their way find
chants, rituals, reverence, for real
wiliwili, dolphins, whale, a monk seal

Greetings, love, and peace: Aloha
