Hawaii
The earthly beauty
of the sun and the moon
the unearthly beauty
of volcanoes rising through the crust
the heavenly scent
of mock orange flowers
blooming and living
every day
so full of feelings and emotions
thoughts and actions
the ocean and the mountains
shall never meet
and where they do
the world ends
Maui the superhero
and Pele the goddess
of flowing hot lava
all controlled by gravity
only we fly through the air
and the hungry frigate birds
the fish swim in the sea
large and small
colored and plain
like the plants
natived and not
on the black sand beach
eroding away
I wonder what happened
to the three-legged turtle
nicknamed Tripod
and wave upon endless wave
surfing the wind
goodbye my love
I shall return
changed
